Win a wildcard! Your chance to line up with the pros at Crankworx Innsbruck
For ambitious amateurs and budding pro riders, a wildcard for Crankworx Innsbruck is a little bit like hitting the jackpot in the lottery. This dream is now set to come true for a select few as Crankworx Innsbruck awards a strictly limited number of wildcards for the Official European Whip-Off Championships presented by SPANK and the RockShox Innsbruck Pump Track Challenge.
Always dreamt of standing on the start line next to the pros at the Whip Off or Pumptrack Challenge in Innsbruck? Keen to test yourself against the best in the world? Now’s your chance! In the run-up to Crankworx Innsbruck there will be four opportunities for talented riders to secure their spot in the limelight with a wildcard for the Official European Whip-Off Championships presented by SPANK and the RockShox Innsbruck Pump Track Challenge.
Georg Spazier, head of the organising team behind Crankworx Innsbruck, is keen to open the event to local riders. “Every year we try to have as many local riders as possible taking part in Crankworx Innsbruck. I am delighted that we have managed to do so again this year and I wish good luck to all the riders battling it out for a wildcard.” For the event organisers, the process of selecting who will ride with the pros at Crankworx Innsbruck not only has to be fair but must also ensure the safety of all athletes taking part. “The Whip-Off Championships and the Pump Track Challenge are both events aimed at expert riders, so the best way to award wildcards for these events is by giving them to the winners of other mountain bike events taking place in the run-up to Crankworx Innsbruck.”
A wildcard for the world’s most epic Whip-Off
As in the past two years, Crankworx Innsbruck will open in 2019 with the traditional Official European Whip-Off Championships presented by SPANK held in a truly breathtaking location next to the lake high above the village of Mutters near Innsbruck.
Riders who are at least 16 years old and think they have what it takes to hit the huge Crankworx kickers should have one day circled in their diaries: 25 May. Exactly 18 days before the start of the third edition of Crankworx Innsbruck there will be an opportunity for local whip wizards to throw down at the #MTBInnsbruck Whip Session hosted by RIP BMX IBK and win a wildcard for the Whip-Off at Crankworx Innsbruck. Local hero Peter Kaiser already showed at the Crankworx season opener in Rotorua what the perfect whip should look like as he claimed top spot in the Whip-Off event. The Innsbruck native will be one of the judges at the whip jam session at the Dirtpark Innsbruck and will be rating the whips on show based on certain key criteria degree of whip, airtime and style. Visitors are very welcome to come along and cheer on the riders while enjoying a chilled atmosphere and tasty BBQ. For more information visit: https://www.facebook.com/MTBInnsbruck/
Around a week later, on 1 June, there will be the Warsteiner Whip Offs powered by Spank contest held as part of the iXS Dirt Masters in Winterberg. The winner of this event will also walk away with a wildcard for the Official European Whip-Off Championships presented by SPANK on 12 June.
Pump it up for a Crankworx Innsbruck wildcard
The Austrian Pumptrack Series, taking place for the fourth time in 2019, offers riders not one but two opportunities to win a wildcard for the RockShox Innsbruck Pump Track Challenge!
On 1 June at the Pump the Town event in Innsbruck the top three finishers – in both the category Women Elite and Men Elite – will be rewarded with a wildcard for the RockShox Innsbruck Pump Track Challenge. Those who miss out on the podium at this contest will have a second shot at glory a week later on 9 June at the Pump the Valley event in Sölden. The fastest male and female rider there will also pick up a wildcard for the Whip-Off at Crankworx Innsbruck on 13 June in Bikepark Innsbruck.
