2018 UCI Road World Championships
In September 2018, Innsbruck-Tirol will welcome the world’s best road cyclists for the UCI Road World Championships, cycling‘s major annual road event. During eight exciting days of competition more than 1,000 athletes will take part in individual time trials, team time trials and road races.
The twelve races will start in the regions of Ötztal (AREA 47), Hall-Wattens, Alpbachtal Seenland (Rattenberg) and Kufstein and lead along different routes before finishing in the heart of the regional capital, Innsbruck. With its magnificent mountain roads, Tirol is the ideal location for road races with plenty of tough climbs. In accordance with the motto ‘Riding the Heart of the Alps’, the planned route for the Men Elite Road Race with approximately 5,000 vertical metres of ascent already gives a glimpse of how spectacular and challenging the 2018 UCI Road World Championships in Innsbruck-Tirol will be.
Hundreds of thousands of spectators are expected to line the race routes, while live TV coverage will broadcast the action daily to an audience of 200 million people in 150 countries.
